One of my favorite things to do when the boy and I go out to the suburbs is stop by [market] and pick up calligraphy pens and Japanese fashion magazines. A few months back, I chose a big issue of Very. The styling in this magazine is clean, minimal, and very inspiring. I put together a few outfits based on my favorite looks from these pages. Do I know what most of it says? No way. But the photos speak for themselves.
❖ Athletic Shoes ❖
Something I noticed through many of these pages are the huge use of sneakers! I love sneakers to add a casual twist with slacks, trench coats, and dresses.
Vans Leather Old School Zip Sneaker // Saucony Grid SD Premium Sneaker // Puma Classic Stripes Trainer // Lacoste Leather Carnaby Gold Evo PRV Trainer // Nike MD Runner 2 Dark Green Trainers // Adidas Original Pointed Court White Platform Trainer

❖ Striped Pants ❖
Oh my goodness, I love all of these striped pants! I have a pair of houndstooth and a pair of lightly striped AOS denim pants, but now I want many more!
Topshop Stripe Cigarette Pants // Finders Keepers Rolling Stones Jeans // Dorothy Perkins Stripe Pique Straight Leg Trousers

❖ White ❖
There is a lot of crisp white in this magazine. I'll always have a soft spot for all-white or all-black ensembles, and those white chukka boots take the cake!
Jeffrey Campbell Barstow Boot // Topshop White Jamie Jeans // Alice + Olivia Tiegan Boxy Chunky Turtleneck // New Look Mini Wendy Pocket bag

❖ Utility Coats ❖
Khaki and Olive go great with crisp whites and solid blacks. Throughout this issue, there are plenty of utility jackets and trenches.
J. Crew Downtown Field Jacket // Modcloth Cuddle Puddle Raincoat // Gap Printed Utility Jacket // Topshop Lightweight Shirt Jacket
