Love and Lace

I am so stupidly excited about today. I spent the day with my best friend, Bob. Bob and I have known each other since way back when we both worked for Apple. One day we started talking about our photography and have been great pals ever since! We both adore vintage cameras, thrifting, and Larry David — and we always have the best laughs!

We started out at Bob's place. He has gotten a few new toys recently that I haven't checked out yet. The first being an Apple Newton. It's easy to say that we're both pretty big tech nerds and each of us own "vintage" Apple computers and accessories. The Newtons were pretty ahead of their time and this one was pretty hilarious. He also got an 1800s printing press some time ago and I finally got to see it today. It was so fancy and beautiful! Of course his office is filled with awesome Polaroid shots and old cameras, so I had to snap a few Instagram shots before we headed on our way.

Oh, and how could I not get a shot of my and my favorite wiener dog, Louie?! Bob's pup is such a sweetie and I spent a lot of the time with him on the floor where he was constantly trying to slow dance with me and kiss me. Hah! I missed this little guy!

We spent the day at antique shops and thrift stores. I picked up a few really unbelievable things! I'll include them with more detail in Monday's thrift post, but here's a preview: on the left is a gold snake belt that Bob spotted. It has faux-saffire and is breathtaking! On the left is a sheer scarf. It is orange with little grey cats on it — and I'm not sure how to put this, but the cats are, errrm, anatomically correct? I suppose that you can see what I mean by the little dots on their behinds! We were both pretty amused by this.

This dress is absolutely beautiful. And guess what? It's for sale in my Etsy shop! It appears that someone had changed the armholes at some point, so some of the stitching isn't perfect. Regardless, it's utterly wonderful! The ribbon belt contrasts perfectly with the lace detail and pearlized buttons.

How was your Caturday?
