Chicago CND Shellac Event

I was recently invited to an event for CND Shellac. It wasn't up until I arrived at the event that I realized what I was in for. Most of you know that I almost always have long nails, so strolling into the Waldorf Astoria with bare fingers was a bit nerve racking for me.

First of all, the Waldorff: whoa. The event was held in the Presidential Suite on the 26th floor. Swanky.

Of course, as I have discovered so wonderfully through the past couple events I have attended, there was food. I can never say no to cheese and bell pepper slices. And crackers. And hummus. The selection here was pretty tasty.

Chai tea, soy milk, vodka, and cinnamon
The drink selection was quite creative and themed off of CND's new fall collection. The custom cocktails were being served up by mixologist Wade McElroy — and I particularly loved this cinnamon and chai drink!

And of course, the topic of the hour: nails. If you're unfamiliar with CND Shellac, it's a "power polish" that claims to last 14 days with no chips and without losing its shine. Of course I'll be letting you know how it works out for me. I went with a lovely teal and blue ombre (the photo doesn't do the ombre justice!) with some silver foiling and nail art by the lovely AstroWifey. A big thanks to Gina for being a doll and doing my nails and to Rachel for inviting me to the event! I met many awesome ladies and can't wait to see how my nails last.

If you're in Chicago this week and want to give them a try for free (!), they will be offering free manicures at Taste of Chicago! Swing by and check them out.

Overall it was an awesome day that started with a trip to the beach, I attended this event, and then got a surprise visit from my best friend from home (Ms. Kelley B!) in the evening. I have a long weekend with my favorite girls and I can't wait!
