Marie Claire x United Colors of Benetton // White Dress Project

Last night I attend a completely different type of event than I had been to yet — the Marie Claire x United Colors of Benetton White Dress Project. Per usual, I wasn't sure what to expect, but this was a nice little mingling exhibit with champagne, wine, and fancy little hors d'oeuvres.

The white dresses were a nice contrast against the brightness of United Colors and they had a few live models as well. The show was curated by Nick Cave in association with SAIC Fashion Department.

Congrats to the designers who have their work displayed — if you missed the opening event, the pieces will be on display at the United Colors of Benetton (520 North Michigan Avenue) through October 11th.

The United Colors remodel is really lovely and modern — a perfect clean slate to display their distinguishable bright product. Alaine and I spotted some wonderful color block bags, shoes, and even some button socks that she's considering doing a DIY version of.

And per usual, my favorite part of going to these things is running into familiar faces! It was nice to see Rachel of Jag Lever out and catching up with her. If you aren't familiar with her blog, you may remember her from the Savers thrift store event back in August. I also took one of my coworkers to the event with me who had never been to anything like this before and she really liked it! It's definitely the best to go to these things with a pal.

Afterwards, I hitched the CTA over to Wicker Park for the Lomography Store opening. It was packed (yay for them!) and I was mega tired from working an entire day and trekking it downtown, so I only stayed for a moment to say hello to some friends. I came back up to Andersonville and got a few hours of sleep before having to be up at 5am for another day's work.

The next two weeks are shaping up to be very busy for me and I'm more than excited about it!
