You've Got Nail 57 // Twin Peaks Nails with Scratch

I get so excited when Scratch sends out their monthly emails to pick my set for the Mini Monthly Mani Box. I'm a little late to posting these, but the November box had my heart all fluttery with this Twin Peaks-themed set The Great Northern. See the three sets I made using these goodies after the jump.

Here's what came in my box:
The Great Northern wraps
❖ China Glaze nail polish in Gaga for Green
❖ Silver Nail Foil

Special Agent Dale Cooper framed photo not included. ;)

For starteres, I'll go over the extras that came in this box. The nail polish is... green. If you've been reading this blog for a while, you probably know that I don't care for bright greens. My distaste for this color aside, the coverage is great and it applies evenly. So, hey, who wants some green polish?

Secondly, the foil. I love foils, but I've never used them myself. I had no idea that foils need foil glue. There was no foil glue nor information in this package about how to use the foil. It took me some internet searching to figure out what the heck to do with it and finally came across a tutorial claiming the foil glue is unnecessary.

I tried this technique for a while with very little success, as you can see above. I ended up taking off more nail polish than putting on foil! In the future, I think I'll pick up some foil glue so that I can use it appropriately.

These are the three sets I made with the wraps.

For starters, the Twin Peaks set. I found that I didn't actually care for the shape cut-outs and white line around the outside of these wraps, so after applying them, I meticulously painted over those areas in a wood grain pattern to match. I really love the end result! The Black Lodge accent nail was hand-painted.

The Great Northern wraps
❖ Sinful Colors in Snow Me White
❖ Sinful Colors in Black on Black
Nail Brushes
❖ ELF Nail polish in Chocolate [similar]
❖ Covergirl Outlast Nail Color in Toasted Almond
Red rhinestone nail gems
Out The Door topcoat

The second set, I did a "half-and-half" with black and the nail foil.

❖ Sinful Colors in Black on Black
❖ Silver Nail Foil
❖ Out The Door topcoat

And lastly, I decided to take advantage of the cutouts and the green nail polish. Overall, this is my least favorite set for obvious reasons.

I really enjoyed these wraps, but they haven't been my favorite. It took me a while to get them in because the notorious Chicago USPS lost my package lost the first set — Scratch was super accommodating in sending me a replacement. I'm going to hang onto the second set and maybe do an all-woodgrain set for a day when I'm feeling a little more minimal.

Also, I have been using Seche Vite for so long and was frustrated with how it caused my wraps to "shrink." I recently started using Out The Door topcoat and it seems to be much better. What's your favorite top coat to use with wraps? I would love to hear suggestions!
