America's Beauty Show

This weekend I had so much fun as a hair model for Andis at the America's Beauty Show in Chicago! I got a new cut from Jessica Zeinstra. See all of the photos after the jump.

I like to consider myself a morning person, but they I realize that I hardly ever get out of bed before 8:30am. This morning I had to be up at 6 to get to McCormick Place on time and went out the door with no food and no coffee. Whew. I met some characters on the way — this weekend is Chicago's St. Patrick's Day parade and party. There are few things in the world that I despise as much as kelly green t-shirts with tacky sayings.

Anyway, I got some coffee. And I met the crew. They were wonderful! I guess a few people thought I was the woman from Andis's banner (above). I will go ahead and take that as a compliment because BABE.

Getting into it, I consulted with Jessica and the team for a moment to decide what direction to go with my hair. Since I'm trying to keep my length on the top, we opted for a short fake and some shattered texture on the top to help showcase this technique with the clippers. One of the other barbers on staff was cutting some killer designs into short hair, too! It was a really fascinating world to see.

Jessica started by clipping my length up and evening out my sides.

A fresh cut always feels so good. She used the Andis Supra ZR — it was a nice, smooth cut that was much quicker than the clippers I have a home! Hah! Really, though, night and day. Then she used a ProFoil shaver the finish out the fade.

After that was done, she went back in with the Supra and gave me some texture on top! She used a round brush and a blow dryer to give me crazy volume on top!

Fun, yeah? Jessica was great and I'm so happy I was able to link up with Andis and get a cut!

Oh, and as for the rest of the show. If you guys follow me on Snapchat (minipennyblog), you probably saw all of the BTS of me walking around and being overwhelmed with all of the goodies. Well, I spent some money and got a lot of fun things to share — but that's another post for another day!

Special thanks to Andis and the America's Beauty Show for having me! Photos snapped by Ross from Evoke Brands PR.
